One of my most favorite things in the world is Christmas! I love decorating for the season. I also Love making my decorations. This is one of the most requested gift decorations I make from my family and friends. This Christmas tree fits perfectly over a standard mason jar lid! Fill your mason Jar with Christmas Candy, cocoa or soup mixes and then place your tree on top!! The gifting ideas are endless! You can probably get 5 trees from one skein of green. Materials:
Size 4 worsted weight yarn in green I used Red Heart Green Tones. Optional Yarn: baby pipsqueaks whitey white and a burgundy for decoration on tree.
4 mm hook, Needle/Scissors
Optional: Jar, lid, star, etc

Be sure to use a stitch marker, and move to show the beginning of each row.
With Green – worked in a round from bottom to top
1 – HDCFS 36, sc into top of first st creating a circle. (Be sure not to twist it.) This sc counts as the first sc of the next round.
2 – *sc in the next 5, 2sc* repeat 6x (42)
3 – sc all the way around (42)
4 – sc next 3, *ch 5, sc in 2nd chain from the hook sc into next 3 sc stitches of previous round. * repeat all the way around {ends with a branch} (42) (The chain 5 and sc into the chain do not count as stiches in this or any round, they are just the branches)
5 – sc all the way around. (Avoid the “branches”. Crochet behind them.
6 – *sc next 4, sc2tog* repeat 6x (35)
7 – sc next 3, *ch 5, sc in 2nd chain from the hook sc into next 3 sc stitches of previous round. * repeat all the way around (35) {short 1 sc end of round}
8 – sc all the way around (35) avoid branches every time.
9 – *sc next 3, sc2tog* repeat 6x (28)
10- sc next 3, *ch 5, sc in 2nd chain from the hook sc into next 3 sc stitches of previous round. * repeat all the way around (28) {short 2 sc end of round}
11-12 – sc all the way around (28)
13 – sc next 3, *ch 5, sc in 2nd chain from the hook sc into next 3 sc stitches of previous round. * repeat all the way around (28) {short 2sc end of round}

15 – *sc, next 2, sc2tog* repeat 6x (21)
16 – sc next 3, *ch 5, sc in 2nd chain from the hook sc into next 3 sc stitches of previous round. * repeat all the way around (21) {last 3 sc short on this round}

25 – sc next 3, *ch 5, sc in 2nd chain from the hook sc into next 3 sc stitches of previous round. * repeat all the way around (14) {last 1 sc short on this round}

27 – *sc, sc2tog* repeat 4x (9)
28 – sc next 3, *ch 5, sc in 2nd chain from the hook sc into next 3 sc stitches of previous round. * repeat all the way around (9)
29 – sc all the way around (9)
30 – *sc2tog* until closed.
Tie off and weave in ends. Use ends from foundation chain on bottom of tree to sew ends together well.
Garland: With Red SC 150. Twist or alternate with fluffy white yarn. Other ideas for decor are sparkly pipe cleaners and poms or sew on beads. Possibilities are endless!
